It's silly, isn't it? So many of us fear rejection so deeply, that plenty of humans can spend years testing the waters and hesitating to jump in.

Or has he simply watched so many tragedies unfold on the stage that his views on the matter are permanently skewed? They may not be romantic in nature, but he still faces rejection so often he's learned to brush it off with a smile.
Not that he's facing rejection now. Far from it, given the strength with which Jade grips him; Rook purrs appreciatively at the exploratory touch of lips and teeth, fingers threading through Jade's hair as though he means to hold him there. This really is a dangerous passion, isn't it? They both know full well what he's like. How does someone so easily enchanted measure up against the possessive commitment of a merman? Is it wrong that some deep, dark part of him is curious how much he would suffer, if it all went wrong?]
