Rook laughs aloud at the 'joke', even as he fills the canteens from an earthen jug. It may not be cold, but it's still cooler than the weather outside; Jade will be glad for it, no doubt. And so will he, depending on how long they're out and about for. "Ahahaha! What a kidder you are! I wouldn't have brought you brought you to my room first, if I wanted to do something like that, of course. Too many witnesses!"

So that means..... what? That he has a secret stash of tools to gruesomely murder people, hidden somewhere out on the savannah? That he would ambush Jade somewhere up in the mountains, where people knew Jade often went, so he wouldn't be considered missing for a good long while? Or is he just playing along with Jade's little jest?
